How To Prepare for Your Real Estate License Exam
To begin a career in real estate, you start by passing your real estate license exam. However, before you can take the real estate license exam, you need to complete a pre-licensure course. At Kentuckiana Real Estate Academy, we offer Indiana and Kentucky real estate classes to prepare you for your state’s licensure exam. Learn about options and some other tips to prepare you for your real estate license exam.
Step #1: Complete Your Pre-Licensure Course
Every state has slightly different licensure requirements, but completing a pre-licensure course is a must. At Kentuckiana Real Estate Academy, we offer pre-licensure real estate courses for Indiana and Kentucky residents.
Kentucky Real Estate Classes
In Kentucky, to take your licensure exam, you must be at least 18, have a GED or high school diploma, complete a criminal background check, and complete 96 hours of pre-licensure Kentucky real estate classes or 6 credit hours of real estate courses.
Our Kentucky real estate courses cover topics like real estate principles, finance, marketing, urban planning, commercial real estate, real estate law, and property management. You can complete our online real estate classes or register for in-person classes through Zoom that take 2-12 weeks to complete.
Indiana Real Estate Classes
In Indiana, to take your real estate license exam, you must be at least 18 years old and hold a high school diploma or a GED. You can’t have a criminal record for anything that would endanger the public, and you must have completed a 90-hour Broker Pre-License Course.
At Kentuckiana Real Estate Academy, our 90-hour online Indiana real estate classes cover topics like property value, the Indiana Real Estate Commission, real estate contracts, financing, and closing transactions.
Step #2: Study for Your Exam
Don’t cram for the exam. Give yourself time to prepare.
One very effective method is the Pomodoro technique, which involves studying for 25 uninterrupted minutes, then taking a 5-minute break. Do this for 2 hours, then take a 1-hour break. The short breaks provide time to stretch, and the 1-hour breaks allow your subconscious brain time to assimilate the knowledge.
Join Our Exam Prep Classes
We offer exam prep classes that allow you to focus on the Kentucky state portion of the Kentucky exam or the national portion of the real estate licensure exams. This can benefit you whether you’re taking the Indiana or Kentucky licensure exam. It gives you an idea of what to expect and knowledge gaps.
Step #3: Use Smart Exam-Day Practices
Before your exam, go to bed early and get plenty of rest by sleeping in a dark, cool room. Start your day with water and a high-protein breakfast that will keep your brain sharper. Before you leave, make sure you have everything you need, like pencils, pens, and your ID. Arrive early by adding at least 10 minutes to your driving time.
